The Maturity Practice
Developmental coaching for
leaders at challenging thresholds
Hello, I'm Esther Cameron
Leaders are operating amidst increasing complexity, fragmentation and instability - alongside profound and unpredictable shifts in technology, institutional supports and societal values.
This is putting immense strain on all of us - and especially on leaders, given the responsibilities they hold. This strain can be experienced in myriad different ways, including feeling trapped, overwhelmed, stuck, agitated or adrift at an unfamiliar threshold.
In my work in The Maturity Practice, I create coaching spaces for leaders, where whatever is happening inside of you, and outside of you can be heard, welcomed and understood. Where we can slow things down a little and allow new perspectives, fresh mindsets and expanded capacities to emerge, in service of both leadership and life.

A different kind of coaching
Sometimes a leadership challenge can be solved by simply stepping back and reflecting. But sometimes the challenge is more 'sticky' than that.
Often, these sticky challenges are not so much about needing to learn a new skill, but needing to open to a different mindset or a new way of focusing and making decisions - maybe to a whole new way of thinking about leadership. These things can be hard to see and face alone.
Alternatively, it might be that you're not quite operating at the right level as a leader for the culture you're working in. Your mindsets don't match. It can be hard to see that too.
Developmental Coaching is about working with these 'stickier' challenges.
So alongside exploring whatever is happening at work and in life, we pay good attention to the person or the 'self' in you that's doing the leading.
This work sheds light on the internal 'software' you use as you meet the challenges in your life and work: how you initiate change, how you relate to others, how you respond to conflict, what you tend to focus on at work and in life - and helps illuminate how well these approaches are working to meet the challenges that work and life are sending your way.
This form of coaching draws on perspectives and practices from psychology, adult development, and leadership development.
